Ingewikkeld

Material experiment with melting plastic rope into objects    .2012

‘Ingewikkeld’ or ‘complicated’ in Dutch is a series of bowls and lamps, results of an material experiment. These objects are entirely made of PolyPropene (PP) rope. By coiling it around a hot steel mold and firing it up with a heat-gun. Controled melting fixades the rope so the mold can be removed.

The inside is turned into a smooth candy-like surface that makes nice contrast with the rope outside. For the second edition see ingewikkeld.016.  Rein is looking out for a factory or designlabel that is able to develop this technique for  production.
