Climbing rope, kite line
W80 x H100 cm
edition: 1

chair: IKEA, Ellen Hallstrom

This time I was aiming for a large scale, but with an open structure. As expected, this cannot be done at this size without tricks, as it would (and did) collapse under its own weight.
Because the overall shape was inspired by a Japanese kite I saw, the trick I came up with was fixing each crossing with kite line 🪁 This made the piece unexpectedly rigid, and also made it very meta: a big knot held together by tiny knots.

On top of that, the structural fringes give a very pleasant glow, of which the intensity depends on your point of view
